Let the head torching begin....

To be fair I've been head torching in the week day evenings for a few weeks now but, with the clocks changing last weekend, this past week has suddenly become full on proper head torch running season (and its likely to stay that way now until March next year). My weekday running is pretty much always done in the evening anyway, with the odd crack of dawner from time to time and, given that I don't get home usually until 6:15pm, head torching in the winter is obviously what its all about.... especially living in Horton-in-Ribblesdale where there aren't really any street lights to speak of.

So this past week's head torching was made up of a 5 miler over Whitber Hill with Harry from home on Monday (while Hester was running up Ingleborough with Settle Harriers), almost 6 miles over Pen y Ghent with Harry on Tuesday, 6 miles with Hester and Haz in Settle Hills via Cleatops wood on Wednesday,  another Whitber Hill 5 run with Haz on Thursday and finally another 6 mile Pen y Ghenter with Hester and Haz on Friday (Halloween) followed by a swift pint in the Golden Lion just across the road from home. The added advantage of running straight after getting home from work on Halloween is that we managed to miss any trick or treaters in the process and were able to eat all of the sweeties ourselves while watching TV yesterday evening!

Anyway a few pictures from our Halloween run up Pen y Ghent:

Hester and Haz just before the off (with Hester looking suitably scary herself)

Haz wearing his hi-viz running harness and Hester

Hester edging along a narrow ledge in the dark - what can possibly go wrong?

Harry leading the way

Me looking a bit of a gumby on the trig point

Hester was quite light headed by the time she reached the summit
